Adobe Photoshop Surrealistic Photo
Critical C's
Concept
This project appealed to me because it was a chance for me to show my creativity. I disliked that I had to use entirely my own photos for this project. It is not apparent to the audience that not all of these photos were taken at the same angle and/or from the same distance so I had to do quite a bit of editing to get it to all look the same.
Composition
I used the elements of value and form and the principles of pattern, and unity. My artwork is a personal reflection because it is five of me in one picture. The most dominant principle I used is unity and it affects the composition by making everything look "unified," like it it one picture, not five combined. I used Adobe Photoshop.
Craftsmanship
After I understood my assignment, I developed my idea by researching surrealistic photography on Google. This was my preplanning process. After that, I went outside and started brainstorming ideas by looking at what I had to work with. To make this art, I had Tommy take five photos of me and told him to try to stay in the same spot. Then I put the pictures on my computer and put them on Photoshop one at a time, resizing and rotating them to make them fit in each time. I erased the backgrounds on all but the very bottom layer (first) photo. Issues I encountered were that I kept accidentally erasing shadows and also that the photos' angles/distances were very different from one another.
Creativity
I was very committed to this project, I finished it very quickly. I moved beyond just what the teacher asked of me by combining five photos rather than just two. A new technique I used was combining/blending these photos together. An old technique I used was using the Transform tool. I related to this project because it was pictures of me.
Completeness
I didn't change my artwork as a result of looking at someone else's work or talking with a student/teacher. I reflected on the elements of value when I made sure all the shadows were there and form when I put myself in the picture five times. I reflected on the principles of pattern when I patterned myself in the photo and unity when I tried to make it all blend together and look like one photo. I knew I was finished when I looked at it and I could see it as being one picture. I am proud of this artwork because I think it looks pretty good and kind of real.
